Where Love Calls Home - A Pender Island Wedding
There is something truly special about photographing a wedding on Pender Island, especially when the place itself is woven into a couple’s story.
Set on a beautiful, private 10-acre property on our magical island, this wedding was a heartfelt celebration of love, family, and the roots that make a place feel like home. Surrounded by the natural beauty of Pender Island, Chloe and Mitch celebrated their love in a setting that felt deeply personal, meaningful, and connected to generations of family history.
With Chloe’s family having put down roots on Pender, the island was more than just a backdrop for their wedding day. It was a place filled with connection, memories, and a deep sense of belonging. There is something beautiful about gathering the people you love most in a place that holds so much meaning, creating new memories in a landscape that has already been part of your family’s story.
One of the most special parts of the day was Chloe getting ready in her grandmother’s private cabin. Filled with old photographs of her grandfather and reminders of the generations who came before her, the cabin held a quiet kind of magic. It was a place rich with family history, making those intimate getting-ready moments all the more meaningful. Rather than simply preparing for the day ahead, Chloe was surrounded by pieces of her family’s story, a beautiful reminder of the love and legacy that would continue as she began this new chapter of her own.
We also had the opportunity to photograph Chloe and Mitch in her grandmother’s garden, surrounded by the beauty and familiarity of a place so closely tied to her family. These portraits felt especially meaningful, capturing not only their love for one another but also their connection to the place and people who helped shape their story.
One of our favourite moments was recreating an old photograph of Chloe’s grandparents. There is something incredibly moving about revisiting an image from another generation and bringing it to life again, this time with a new couple and a new chapter of love. It was a beautiful way to honour the generations before them, connecting past and present through a single photograph. These are the kinds of moments that remind us just how powerful wedding photography can be. Beyond documenting a day, photographs become a way of preserving family history and carrying meaningful memories forward.
Another beautiful and personal touch was having a local poet create poetry for Chloe and Mitch and their wedding guests. It was such a thoughtful way to celebrate their love and share something truly unique with the people closest to them.
From the quiet, intimate getting-ready moments in Chloe’s grandmother’s cabin to portraits in the family garden and a celebration surrounded by family and friends, this day was a beautiful reminder of what makes weddings so special. It is not just the details or the setting, but the people, the connections, and the stories that live within a place. It is about honouring where we come from while creating new memories to cherish for years to come.
As wedding photographers based on Pender Island, we feel incredibly fortunate to document love stories in the very place we call home. We know how much history, beauty, and meaning can be found in the corners of this island, and it is always an honour to help couples preserve those connections through photographs. Every wedding here has its own kind of magic, and Chloe and Mitch’s day was no exception.
A beautiful couple, a meaningful place, generations of love, and a day filled with memories that will be treasured for years to come. What more could you ask for?
